Back Handspring Class

 

Back Handspring Class is the bridge between TumbleCo Bronze and TumbleCo Silver. The class is designed to teach proper technique for the performance of a strong standing back handspring. This class is popular among school cheerleaders and is introduced to our CheerCo athletes beginning at level two (2) — i.e. the silver level.

The class curriculum emphasizes the fundamentals of a strong standing back handspring including, but not limited to:

  • consistent approach;

  • speed;

  • body control (i.e head placement, pointed toes, arm/shoulder placement, hip position, etc);

  • landings (i.e chest placement, controlled ,etc.)

In order to enroll in Back Handspring Class participants must demonstrate strong execution of the following skills:

General Tumbling

  • Athletic Stance,

  • General Tumbling - Tumbling to Counts;

  • General Tumbling - Counting to Music;

  • General Tumbling - Tumbling to Music;

  • General Tumbling - Power Hurdle;

  • General Tumbling - Active Shoulders;

  • Tumbling Body Positions;

  • Push-up to Bridge

    Tumbling Body Positions

  • Lying Straight Body Position;

  • Pike Position;

  • Table Top;

  • Tuck;

  • Lunge;

  • Standing Straight Body Position;

  • Straddle;

    Standing Tumbling

  • Back Walkover;

  • Handstand;

  • Backbend;

  • Backward Roll;

  • Forward Roll, General Tumbling - Rebound;

  • Forward Straddle Roll;

  • Backward Roll to Straddle;

  • Handstand, Forward Roll;

  • Front Limber;

  • Back Limber;

  • Back Extension Roll;

  • Backbend, Kickover;

  • Valdez;

  • Handstand, Pirouette, General Tumbling - Block;

Participants who are unable to perform the skills listed above with excellent execution will not be permitted to enroll in this class. If you are new to the program and don’t know if you meet the requirements for this class you may schedule a free thirty (30)-minute mini class — by appointment only — where one of our skills technicians will evaluate your skills and work with you to determine the best class, or group of classes, to help you reach your goals.
