Class Descriptions

 

Level One

No experience required!

Participants will learn all the fundamental drills and skills that build strength and body awareness required for to learn more advanced skills. The skills/skill sets learned in this class are the foundation of all tumbling skills/ skill sets and will be used throughout the participants career as a tumbler from beginner to elite. Upon successfully completing this course participants may enroll in Back Handspring class.


Back Walkover

This is a specialty class where participants will exclusively learn drills that condition and reinforce that motor patterns involved in properly performing a back walkover. The back walkover is a non-aerial skill that involves a backward rotation of the body through a handstand position. Mastery of this skill is required prior to learning a back handspring.

Participants need not have completed our Level 1 Tumbling class, but participants MUST demonstrate the ability to properly perform the following skills as a prerequisite for this class:

Push-up to back bend/ bridge position

Standing Backbend

Handstand


Back Handspring

This is a specialty class where participants will exclusively learn drills that build strength and body awareness required to properly perform a standing back handspring. The back handspring is a very important skill to master as it is one that will be used throughout your athletes career as a tumbler. The quality of an athletes back handspring will determine how quickly and easily they learn and progress through higher level skill sets. Upon successfully completing this course participants may enroll in Level 2 Tumbling.

Must pass Level 1 Tumbling

Participants who have not passed our Level 1 Tumbling class or who choose to opt out of Level 1 Tumbling MUST demonstrate the ability to properly perform the following skills as a prerequisite for this class:

push-up to Backbend / Bridge position

Standing Backbend

Handstand

Handstand Block

Back Limber / Back Limber to Push-up position

Back Walkover / Back Walkover Series


Level Two

Upon entering level 2 participants will learn skills sets the encompass all skills allowed in the preceding level while simultaneously incorporating a back handspring. These skill sets use a variety of skills which will prepare participants to perform advanced skill combinations that use both aerial and non-aerial skills. Upon successfully completing this course participants may enroll in Level 3 Tumbling or Punch Front / Aerial Class.

Must pass Back Handspring Class

Participants who have not passed our Back Handspring Class or who choose to opt out of Back Handspring Class MUST demonstrate the ability to properly perform the following skills as a prerequisite for this class:

Back Walkover / Back Walkover Series

Roundoff Rebound maintaining tight hollow body position.

Cartwheel - Back Walkover / Cartwheel - Back Walkover Series

Standing Back Handspring / Standing Back Handspring Rebound


Punch Front /Aerial

This is a specialty class where participants will exclusively learn drills that build strength and body and spatial awareness required to properly perform a both a Punch Front (tuck position) and an Aerial Cartwheel. The Punch Front is a very important skill to master as it is one that will be used frequently as you participant progresses into more advanced and elite level tumbling skills. The punch front is a progression for the front Layout, and other aerial front flipping skills that may also involve twisting. Upon successfully completing this course participants may enroll in Level 3 Tumbling.

Must pass Level 2 Tumbling

Participants who have not passed Level 2 Tumbling or who choose to opt out of Level 2 Tumbling Class MUST demonstrate the ability to properly perform the following skills as a prerequisite for this class:

Forward Roll

Dive Roll

Cartwheel

Standing / Running Back Handspring Series


Level Three

Upon entering level 3 participants will learn skills sets the encompass all skills allowed in the preceding level while while learning to incorporate a Back Tuck and other skills appropriate for level 3. These skill sets use a variety of skills which will prepare participants to perform advanced skill combinations that use both aerial and non-aerial skills. Upon successfully completing this course participants may enroll in Standing Back Tuck Class.

Must pass Punch Front / Aerial Cartwheel Class

Participants who have not passed Punch Front / Aerial Cartwheel Class or who choose to opt out of Punch Front / Aerial Cartwheel Class MUST demonstrate the ability to properly perform the following skills as a prerequisite for this class:

Standing Back Handspring

Back Walkover - Back Handspring Combination

Roundoff - Back Handspring Series (3+)


Standing Tuck

This is a specialty class where participants will exclusively learn drills that build strength and body and spatial awareness required to properly perform a both a Standing Back tuck. The Standing back Tuck is a very important skill to master as it is one that will be used frequently as you participant progresses into more advanced and elite level tumbling skills. The punch front is a progression for the Standing Full Twist. Upon successfully completing this course participants may enroll in Level 4 Tumbling.

Must pass Level 3 Tumbling

Participants who have not passed Level 3 Tumbling or who choose to opt out of Level 3 Tumbling MUST demonstrate the ability to properly perform the following skills as a prerequisite for this class:

Back Roll

Standing Back Handspring Series (3+)

Roundoff - Back Handspring - Back Tuck


Level Four

Upon entering level 4 participants will learn skills sets the encompass all skills allowed in the preceding level while while learning to incorporate a Layout, connecting skills to aerial flips and other skills appropriate for level 4. These skill sets use a variety of skills which will prepare participants to perform advanced skill combinations that use both aerial and non-aerial skills in preparation for twisting skills. Upon successfully completing this course participants may enroll in Twist Class.

Must pass Standing Tuck Class

Participants who have not passed Standing Tuck Class or who choose to opt out of Standing Tuck Class MUST demonstrate the ability to properly perform the following skills as a prerequisite for this class:

Standing Back Tuck

Roundoff - Back Handspring / Back Handspring Series (3+) - Back Tuck

Jump Skill - Back Handspring Series (3+)


Twist

This is a specialty class where participants will exclusively learn drills that build strength and body and spatial awareness required to properly perform a Full Twisting Layout. The Full Twisting Layout is the progression for all skills involving flipping and simultaneously twisting. This skill must also be mastered prior to participants learning the “Whip”. Upon successfully completing this course participants may enroll in Level 5 Tumbling.

Must pass Level 4 Tumbling

Participants who have not passed Level 4 Tumbling or who choose to opt out of Level 4 Tumbling MUST demonstrate the ability to properly perform the following skills as a prerequisite for this class:

Standing Back Tuck

Standing Back Handspring / Back Handspring Series (3+) - Back Tuck

Roundoff - Back Handspring / Back Handspring Series (3+) - Layout


Level Five

Upon entering level 5 participants will learn skills sets the encompass all skills allowed in the preceding level while while learning to incorporate a Full Twisting Layout, connecting various aerial flips and skills that involve simultaneously flipping and twisting. These skill sets use a variety of skills which will prepare participants to perform advanced skill combinations that use both aerial and non-aerial skills in preparation for bounding and bounding twisting skills. Upon successfully completing this course participants may enroll in Bounding Class.

Must pass Twist Class

Participants who have not passed Twist Class or who choose to opt out of Twist Class MUST demonstrate the ability to properly perform the following skills as a prerequisite for this class:

Standing Back Tuck

Jump Skill - Back Handspring / Back Handspring Series (3+) - Back Tuck

Roundoff - Back Handspring / Back Handspring Series - Full Twisting Layout


Bounding

This is a specialty class where participants will exclusively learn drills that build strength and body and spatial awareness required to properly perform a Whip. The Whip is the progression for all skills involving immediately connecting aerial flipping skills to one another. It is also a progression for twisting in bounding skills. This skill must also be mastered prior to participants learning the “Whip”. Upon successfully completing this course participants may enroll in Level 5 Tumbling.

Must pass Level 5 Tumbling

Participants who have not passed Level 5 Tumbling or who choose to opt out of Level 5 Tumbling MUST demonstrate the ability to properly perform the following skills as a prerequisite for this class:

Standing Back Handspring / Back Handspring Series (3+) - Full Twisting Layout

Jump Skill - Standing Back Handspring / Back Handspring Series (3+) - Full Twisting Layout

Roundoff - Back Handspring / Back Handspring Series - Full Twisting Layout


Level 6/7

Upon entering level 5 participants will learn skills sets the encompass all skills allowed in the preceding level while while learning to incorporate a Full Twisting Layout, connecting various aerial flips and skills that involve simultaneously flipping and twisting. These skill sets use a variety of skills which will prepare participants to perform advanced skill combinations that use both aerial and non-aerial skills in preparation for bounding and bounding twisting skills. Upon successfully completing this course participants may enroll in Bounding Class.

Must pass Bounding Class

Participants who have not passed Bounding Class or who choose to opt out of Bounding Class MUST demonstrate the ability to properly perform the following skills as a prerequisite for this class:

Standing Back Handspring / Back Handspring Series (3+) - Full Twisting Layout

Jump Skill - Standing Back Handspring / Back Handspring Series (3+) - Full Twisting Layout

Standing Back Handspring / Back Handspring Series (3+) - Whip Combination - Full Twisting Layout

Jump Skill - Back Handspring / Back Handspring Series (3+) - Whip Combination - Full Twisting Layout
