CheerCo Novice
CheerCo Novice is for individuals who are new to all-star, but ready for performance-based teams that are evaluated at events. Novice teams focus on strengthening technique and performance skills that help prepare athletes for competitive all-star teams. All Novice teams are combined female/male and are not classified as “co-ed”regardless of the number of males on a team. Each Novice team practices twice per week for 90 minutes each. We also plan for them to participate in a minimum of three (3) events during their season. All CheerCo teams attend the same events and — unless notified otherwise — it is out standard that all CheerCo Program Members are present to support one another during performances.
Following are some of the ways that CheerCo Novice differs from CheerCo Elite (traditional all-star):
Routines may not exceed one Minute and thirty seconds (1:30);
Tosses are not permitted in Novice Divisions;
Novice may be offered at both one-day and two-day events, however, if offered at two-day events, Novice divisions will perform one time only;
At events, Novice teams are evaluated only on execution and receive an overall rating of Outstanding, Excellent, or Superior (they are not scored against other teams);
Tumbling skills are allowed, but are not be rated/required;
The intent of this program is to introduce interested participants to all-star cheer in a manner that is lower cost, and lower commitment than traditional competitive programs, while preparing young athletes for more competitive and performance based programs.
